Description
The Classic Lenormand Gypsy Tarot by Paulo Rodrigues in Portuguese is based on the famous images and traditions of Madame Lenormand, the French tarot reader who read for Napoleon, Josephine Robespierre, Louis XVIII, and others.
It is a deck that blends the modern and the classic, illustrated with easily digestible images and containing references to the suits of a traditional deck. In addition to the 36 typical cards of a Petit Lenormand, it includes additional alternative cards: 13 – Girl and Boy, 28 – Man and a Gypsy, and 29 – Woman and a Gypsy, making a total of 39.
Marie Anne Adelaide Lenormand was a French professional fortune teller/clairvoyant of considerable fame during the Napoleonic era. In France, Lenormand is considered the greatest fortune teller of all time, highly influential in the wave of French cartomancy that began in the late 18th century.
She was known as "Sybille des Salons" or Sibyl of the Salons, and was the "trusted" reader who read the cards for Napoleon and Josephine Bonaparte. Her original deck had 52 cards and was published around 1828.
A smaller version with 36 cards – the Petit Lenormand – was created around 1840.
Contains 39 cards and also includes a pocket-sized guidebook (Portuguese) the same size as the cards with basic instructions for each card. Comes in a softcover cardboard box.
