The History of the Tarot of the Orishas
The first book published on the Tarot of the Orishas, with its respective cards, was published in 1995 and written by Zolrak & Durkon. With instructions on readings and explanations of the attributions that led to the creation of the cards, the content differs slightly from the traditional Tarot, containing only 77 cards, not the usual 78. The author explains that the meaning of the game is closer to Numerology than to the conventional Tarot, hence the different number of cards.
After this work, several others emerged following the tradition of the Tarot de Marseille (with 78 cards) and also expressing the essence of the Orishas on their blades. The figures are always very colorful and evoke the energies of nature for their composition.
