Mastic Tears or Chios Mastic is a natural tear-shaped aromatic resin produced from the mastic tree (pistacia lentiscus) that only grows in the southern part of the island of Chios, Greece. The uniqueness of the product is attributed not only to a deep-rooted tradition of cultivation, but also to certain soil and climate conditions that favor growth.

The resin from wild pistachios makes you feel lively and relaxed. A pleasantly refreshing, delicate, ethereal aroma is released when burned. The smell of smoke also helps provide positive energy.

The Mastic Tears resin

The mastic tree is an evergreen shrub, 2-5 meters tall. It takes about 50 years for the tree to fully grow with a lifespan of more than 100 years. However, the maximum yield for the mastic tree is reached after 15 years.

In time this tree received Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) status in the EU.

All these conditions of delayed growth, perfect harvesting and protection of the species, not to mention the profound changes that happen when burned, make this resin quite rare and high priced.

How to use Mastic Tears

To benefit from the properties of Mastic Tears in purifying your crystals and your home, you will need liturgical or charcoal. The purpose of coal is to allow myrrh root resin to be burned continuously and safely in the same proportion. After lighting the charcoal on a fireproof surface, let it burn until it begins to turn white. Then place just a few grains of Mastic Tears resin on top of the coal. Only one coal arrives.
