Description

The Tarot de Marseille Convos, also known by the French designation Tarot de Marseille,is a classic deck of cards and one of the first and best known. It is the original deck from which all other tarot decks derive.

It is a deck of 78 cards, distributed in two groups: Major Arcana and Minor Arcana.

In recent years this type of deck has had rebirth, receiving the attention of several tarologists, with the release of restorations of old Tarots, in addition to embellishing them with new designs and colors.

The tarot of Marseille Convos in particular, is based on candles engravings of wood from the sec. XVIII. Magnificently crafted artistically and enriched with vivid colors, these engravings have been resurrected and offer a tarot with new brightness.

The Tarot deck of Marseille was probably designed in northern Italy in the 15th century and introduced in southern France when the French conquered Milan and Piedmont in 1499. The antecedents of the Tarot of Marseilles were then introduced in the south of France. This deck declined in Italy, but survived in France and Switzerland. The designs are medieval in character and may have received influence from the Gothic stained glass, according to their lines and colors. When the game was reintroduced in northern Italy, the pattern of cards recognized as “marseille” was introduced in the region.

There are some differences to the much-known tarot Rider Waite. Waite exchanged the numbers of two cards of the initial major Arcana in the tarot of Marseille: the force often shown with XI, especially in the Tarot of Marseilles, in the Grimaud version came to be designated as VIII; Justice, better known as VIII, is designated waite as being XI.

The other difference from Marseille tarot is that the Minor Arcana are not illustrated as in Rider Waite. They present only the images of the Suits Pentacles, Swords, Cups and Wands. It makes this deck a little harder to decipher if you are not familiar with the meaning of the cards. It’s not very suitable for people who use vision in print more. For those who use intuition more, this tarot is phenomenal.

Contains 78 cards, this oracle is easy to use and is suitable for both beginners and those who have more experience with divination cards. It also contains a 135-page pocket guide book of the same size as the cards. Both are contained inside a solid and colored cardboard box.
