Description

Ciro Marchetti’s Tarot of Dreams is Gilded Reverie Lenormand’sfollow-up work , in collaboration with Lee Bursten of Tarot Gay. It is a new concept in tarot, with 83 printed cards (78 referring to tradiconal tarot, 4 which supplement the Palace and one with the impressive Geometry of the Tree of Life chart.

This is a masterful project, well executed by artist Ciro Marchetti, the highly experienced author/artist Lee Bursten and the extremely talented Carlos Andres Rodriguez.

The people present in the letters vary in age, from children to the elderly; and although most are young and beautiful or strong and muscular, not all are slender or wrinkle-free. Ciro’s initials are hidden on each card (as is usual with his cards), some are easier to find than others, but generally are not intrusive or disturbing.

This deck unites the Hebrew letters together with kabbalah and astrology, which makes it a highly complete deck, thus also requiring the reader a greater openness of vision and intuition, if he wants to access the full depth of the messages that come out.

For example the letter The Fool

In card:

Be silly, make a fool of yourself, cum or play with something. The initial part of a venture or journey. An unorthodox or non-conformist approach. Be a catalyst for change.

Path in the Tree of Life:

Consciousness of Sphere 1 (Keter) connects to The Energy of Sphere 2 (Chokhmah). When the journey of the Fool begins, consciousness manifests itself as pure energy, without any rational or ethical restriction.

Hebrew letter:

Aleph means Ox. The ox is used to till the fields, preparing them for the introduction of seeds, which will eventually grow.

Astrology:

Uranus, the planet of eccentricity, originality and anarchy.

The Major Arcana have the number in Roman numerals at the top and the name of the letter at the bottom. One corner shows the astrological symbol, two corners show the spheres of the Tree of Life to which the path of the letter connects, and the remaining corner shows the Hebrew letter. Positions will change depending on the positions of the spheres in the Tree of Life.

The Minor Arcana show the card number at the top and the suit at the bottom. In the upper right corner is the astrological sign, and in the upper left corner is the planetary sign. Aces show the elemental sign in both corners.

Court Cards display the initial of each title (“K” for King, “Q” for Queen, “Kn” for Knight, and “P” for Page), with the elementary symbol in both corners. Each card brings an image of a highly developed character – from the adorable by serious queens; to the young pages (all facing forward), each with the appearance of a secret or two; to the bold knights (all facing left), each on their own magic horse (the Knight of pentacles, a dark horse, the Knight of Swords, a light horse, the Knight of Cups and the Knight of wands ride magical creatures); for the kings so serious (each facing forward).

The artwork in this deck is awesome! Ciro combines traditional images with non-traditional and fantasy shapes … and comes out with a deck that has the ability to take the user to a whole new world, a world of incredible possibilities. In the Magician,we see a character very similar to “Merlin”, holding a crystal ball in one hand and a bat in the other, surrounded by the images of the four Aces. In Faith (the Hierophant), we see the figure of a “Dalai Lama” figure in prayer, with a circle of glyphs superimposed on him, representing various philosophies. We see the Chinese ideogram meaning “Joy Together”, representing Confucianism; the star of David, representing Judaism; the crucifix, representing Christianity; the crescent moon and the star, representing Islam; the Dharmachakra (wheel of life), representing Buddhism; the three Sanskrit letters aa, au and ma, which combine to form Aum, or Om, representing Hinduism; the Pentagram, representing Neopaganism; the “happy human”, representing humanism; and the Yin/Yang, representing philosophical Taoism. The animation on this card is fascinating! In Fool, one of my favorite figures, we see a figure with a hat and a corn mask – but no head! That means representing the Fool’s “nothing.” If you don’t look closely, you don’t understand that either. representing philosophical Taoism. The animation on this card is fascinating!

The open scroll in front of the High Priestess contains the message: “Darkness in darkness, The key to all mystery.” The Empress is also an amazing card – which seems to emerge from the ground (as being “grounded” on the floor), the Empress is seen wearing a green hooded dress, holding a luminous baby in her hands. In front of the Empress, we see plenty of fields. Lovers give us something to think about, when we see a male and a female figure, hugging, sitting in front of a bow, facing a series of candles. It is very revealing that we are seeing them largely through a veil.

It contains 83 cards and also contains a pocket guide book with 110 pages slightly larger than the letters. It is not a deck suitable for beginners in Tarot, as it has a lot of information and the cards can diverge from the traditional images of Tarot.
