History of tibetan cups

According to Tibetan tradition, the existence of Tibetan bowls dates back to the time of Shakyamuni Buddha (560 – 480 BC). The tradition was brought from India to Tibet, along with the teachings of the Buddha, by the great tantric master Padmasambhava in the 8th century AD

Tibetan bowls emit sounds that invoke a deep state of relaxation that naturally helps the person to enter into meditation, in which the ultimate goal will be Enlightenment. They are an essential aid to meditation and can be found in private Buddhist altars and in temples, monasteries and meditation rooms around the world. Since we are made up of 70% water, all our cells vibrate towards the sound.

In addition to their traditional use for meditation, Tibetan bowls are used for deep relaxation, stress reduction, holistic therapies, Reiki, chakra alignment. Using the size of the bowl, metal and the manufacture, so you will be guided in a therapy or meditation session. The cup will be your guide!

These bowls have always been used for many purposes: religious rituals, therapies, eating and cooking. It was only a few decades ago that the West began to discover the charms of these sounds!

The bowls are closely associated with shakyamuni buddha images and buddhist truth of voidness. The sound is vibration and therefore is devoid of any content. Sound is, by itself, a lesson in detachment – it can be heard, but it cannot be possessed, for it quickly disappears into silence.

How to Use a Tibetan Cup

With the palm extended, place the Tibetan cup. Tap gently with the stop on the outer edge of the bowl and turn the stop clockwise around the outer edge of the bowl. Make the movement using the whole arm as if you were stirring a large pot of soup with a spoon. Try to keep the stop straight and remember to apply pressure – the friction of the stop against the outer edge produces the vibrations, which results in the sound. Let the sound build slowly as the bowl receives vibration.

Due to being a totally unique and handmade product, it can present differences in the photo.
